Patchwork Riding Center

History

Patchwork was opened in 1992, when the founder and director, Lorraine Aichele, while working full time for NY state became aware that there were no recreational riding programs for folks with disabilities.

Today, Patchwork, entering its 14th year of operation, still maintains the high quailty of its horses, programs and staff to help people with disabilities enjoy life to the fullest.

Individuals with disabilities enjoy Slick and Ally while helping improve their balance, relax and stregthen their muscles and gain confidence in themselves. Disabled means any disability, including mental health.

All riders need a permission and release form, medical form (if disabled) and emergency release form. Although we would like no one to ever come off a horse, sometimes it may happen. So we like to have everything in place.

Depending on the student's physical and mental capability, lessons range from 15 to 45 minutes. All lessons must start on time. Riders will forfeit their lessons and the fees if over 15 mintues late.

Please check out our horses, and staff and see what we have been up to!
